Out of Italy - Baroque Music with Italian Flavours
New CD from Duo al Dente, full of the sunny atmosphere of Italy. Duo al Dente once again demonstrates its close and intimate ensemble, this time with the newly released CD Out of Italy. 'Out of Italy and into the public's hearts' is the duo's unequivocal musical aim. To this end, it has done its utmost to create a luxurious product with sparkling chamber music ranging from Baroque works written in Italy itself by Corelli and Vivaldi, through Händel's music in the Italian style, to the beguiling charm of the Irish, but Italian-inspired O'Carolan's compositions. All in an attractive, high quality presentation, making this a CD one will want to own.
Italian-inspired music has always been a speciality of Duo al Dente, and this repertoire has been honed and polished through the many concerts given in recent years. Out of Italy is thus a worthy monument to the duo's first decade in Denmark's musical life. Out of Italy comes out on the Lion Valley Music label - a new Danish record company, of which Duo al Dente is a co-founder. Lion Valley Music focusses on early music, and this CD is the company's first release.
Out of Italy is an invitation to follow some of the paths along which the Italian style of Baroque music so triumphantly progressed in the first half of the eighteenth century. The starting point is the highly influential Corelli, whose inspiration is to be found in the music of all the other composers featured on this CD. Among these is his effervescent Italian colleague Vivaldi, whose recorder music is just as scintillating and seductive as his Le quattro stagioni (The Four Seasons). Following a stay in Italy, Händel took the Italian style with him to England, where he achieved tremendous success - as did other talented composers who left their native Italy to seek their fortunes in Britain. On Out of Italy, Duo al Dente plays Händel's great opera hit Lascia ch'io Pianga. Our musical journey ends in Ireland, where the composer O'Carolan fused the Italian Baroque style with that of Irish folk music. The enchanting result speaks eloquently for itself.
